Still about SUIJI SLP.
Kazuya Masuda, really good sensei. we love you sensei1

Kashiwajima is one of the best diving spot in Japan. keindahan pantainya tak perlu dipertanyakan, aku menyebutnya sebagai “belitong” Jepang dikarenakan pasirnya putih dilengkapi batu – batu gede yang cantik.

Kashiwajima mempunyai satu problem yang cukup umum di Jepang, less young population!. Can you imagine that? Local people in kashiwajima is aged 65 or over! If you met young population, they are visitor not local people. So, this is our challenge!.

we stayed in ex Junior high school that was closed because less young population. This school has been used by Masaru Kanda as an office for Non Profit Organization, Kuroshio Jikkan Centre. Masaru Kanda is a doctor who has a dream and passion with Kashiwajima, Having  been charmed by the beauty of Kashiwajima,he is currently endavoring to protect this scenery for future generations he came with idea to established kashiwajima as a natural museum, his concept about Kashiwajima called “Sato-Uni or Home Ocean”. The main concept of natural museum is understand and appreciation of nature ; protection of both nature and people’s livelihood where they can harmoniously coexist together. this man was so awesome!!

in kashiwima, we lived 4 days for observation and 2 days for do service learning program. in our first day, we do many activities such as walking around to observe Kashiwajima’s environtment ; interviewing with local people and key person ; snorkling to observe marine environment ; discussion between us to make some program and what can we do for them. And in the last second day, we do our program.

with Kamano San (local people)

We found many things in Kashiwajima. Some of them are majority of local people is old people (there is decresing population until 62% from 1950 until 2007 and decresing household until 18%) ; many garbage but management is not good (general management of garbage is the workers from Otski town will take up the garbage at Monday and Friday but if the garbage is not in the trash box, the workers will not take it up)  ; there are 3 major source of garbage in Kashiwajima (from local people, visitors, and another town) ; beautiful sea ; many divers shop (there are 14 divers shop in Kashiwajima) ; there is no school in Kashiwajima (actually there are elementary and junior school in here but because of no enough student, all of them was closed in 2005 and 2008 and al of children in Kashiwajima going to school in Otski town by bus at least 30 minutes from Kashiwajima) ; regional characteristic (it means that they are very kind and welcoming to another people but if people from another town have some idea to do in Kashiwajima, they felt difficult to received it because majority of them also thing that its our land, no one can controle it) ; Good traditional food (tempura) ; tuna seeding (actually it is one of big potential in Kashiwajima but in the last four year, so difficult to find child of tuna so they combine it with yellow tail seeding) ; change of condition in marine environtmen (in the past time, there are big population of seewed and squid but it has changed now, the population of them is  decreasing) ; less young population (based on information from key person in Kashiwajima, young local people always go to another town such as Osaka and Kyoto for working) ; majority livelihood in Kashiwajima has changed (in the past time, their livelihood was a farmer but because there are many project from government and gave much money from it, they left their work so farm land has changed to forest. And now, majority their livelihood is fisherman and diver guide).
